Résumé
Summary Landslide inventories are essential to understand landscape evolution and also to ascertain the landslide susceptibility and hazard assessment. We have provided a landslide database for the Zagros mountain belt as a first comprehensive database of large landslide events in this region. We have created this inventory mainly based on the digital elevation model (DEM) with a resolution of 25m×25m per cell. This study examines the pattern of large landslides distribution in the Zagros region by taking into account various controlling factors on size of a landslide. Our results shows that the large landslides has different behavior to compare with small landslides and they generally occur in areas of Low slope, moderate relief and elevation, high strength rocks and far from shear fault zones. In addition, we have determined the probability density of landslide volume by using kernel density estimation. None cumulative heavy tailed distributions of the database is negative power laws, with exponent ß= 1.51 that reflect the landslide types.Résumé en anglais
