| Résumé | 26 ans après l’abolition du régime d’apartheid, l’Afrique du Sud dénombre encore aujourd’hui plusieurs quartiers d’habitations informelles dépourvus de tout type de développement territorial. Parmi ces derniers, nous trouvons Bhambayi prenant la forme d’un secteur péri-urbain de la municipalité d’eThekwini située au sein de la province du Kwazulu-Natal. En 2016, la sphère publique de l’aire métropolitaine initie une première pré-étude pour l’établissement d’un nouveau parc de logements, le Bhambayi Phase 1 Extension Housing Projet. Afin de pouvoir appréhender le devenir de cet espace périphérique, ce présent Mémoire s’oriente autour d’une analyse en géomatique des potentialités et des contraintes spatiales de ce projet urbain face à la situation existante caractérisée par une densité élevée d’habitants. |
| Summary | Twenty-six years after the abolition of the apartheid regime, South Africa still has several informal settlements without any kind of territorial development. Among the latter, we find Bhambayi taking the form of a peri-urban sector of the eThekwini municipality located within the province of Kwazulu-Natal. In 2016, the public sphere of the metropolitan area initiates a first pre-study for the establishment of a new housing stock, the Bhambayi Phase 1 Extension Housing Project. In order to be able to understand the future of this peripheral space, this present dissertation is based on a geomatic analysis of the potential and spatial constraints of this urban project in the face of the existing situation characterized by a high density of inhabitants. |
