Titre Floods and drought risk, exposure in Niger

Résumé Natural hazards effects human’s daily life, and its frequencies have been increased recently side by side of climate change. In case of floods and droughts both can affect the agricultural land and production, consequently the economic and social life of farmers which most probably have not a strong and stable financial situation in developing countries, and overall these events result to spread poverty, hunger and lose of live of people directly and or indirectly. This report focuses on floods exposure to people for whole country of Niger and drought exposure to rainfed crops of Millet in 14 different departments of three regions of Niger (Dosso, Tahoua and Tillaberi). The results of this study show the population who exposed to floods in different return period in whole Niger and the surface area of Millet which exposed to drought with various return time in 14 different departments. These results can be used to do floods and drought risk analysis. This work was benefited from help and cooperation of colleagues together at Ingeniar for drought exposure and risk analyses and UNEP-GRID for floods hazards, specially Andrea De Bono.
