Titre The rapid mapping response during a volcanic crisis
Sous-titre
Résumé This report was done in the context of the Complementary Geomatics Certificate of the University of Geneva that took place from January until September 2017. The objective of this report is to present some of the work that I did during my internship in UNITAR-UNOTAR, where I collaborated from April to October 2017. This report focuses on one of the main projects in which I participated regarding the UNOSAT service of emergency response in the case of a volcanic crisis. After a brief introduction to the humanitarian emergency response and the specific role of UNOSAT, two major results are presented. The first one is related to the UNOSAT internal workflow at a given volcanic emergency, including some data sources, theoretical framework and the development of an ArcGIS Tool to identify potential hazard zones for pyroclastic flows and lahars. The second result is related to the UNOSAT product catalog for natural disasters, which is an ongoing project of UNOSAT to clearly explain the scope and advantages of the UNOSAT products to the users and requesters. In this part eight products for a potential volcanic crisis were described including a brief example. Finally, the application of these results is discussed and a few propositions are mentioned.
